FYI, for diagnostic confirmation, you can actually see what level the floats are regulating bowl gas levels at. (Or not regulating). Use a full, or mostly full tank. Have the bike level, on center stand or equivalent. Connect the following to one or more carbs:
tube to the float bowl drain nipple. some sort of clear tube or glass connected to that. Hold the glass next to the carb so the level of the fuel will come to the middle of the glass. Open up the drain valve in order to fill the tube and register on the glass outside of the float bowl. The float should stop the flow of gas at a point even with or just below the float bowl seal. *The gas will find level inside and outside the bowl, and you can watch it.* It will either stop and remain even at the right level, or it will keep on flowing up over the top and start running out. It may also never completely fill, though that is rare. Compare the levels of gas in all the float bowls. My point is this. You can actually see the function and adjustment of each float/valve etc with yer own eyes. Using this technique I was able to diagnose a bad float that would allow the levels to rise too high, then stop, making one carb way too rich, and only sometimes overflow. I replaced that one float, because the others were performing properly according to my test. It is still running well today. After that you'll KNOW that you need to pull the carbs and clean them, and you'll know which one is the offender. But don't be in a hurry to separate the carbs from the rail, from each other. Just be prepared to order a float, some bowl gaskets and maybe some 'o' rings. Give each one a good cleaning. NEVER poke something into the jets to clean them. Make sure your smallest jet, the idle jet, is clean. Soon you'll be giving advice on this forum too.
