So as a continuation from my previous thread called "New Member"... The turn signals don't work again. GRRRR!!!
Symptoms: 1. Battery is low on voltage, down around 10.8-10.9 volts. However, I charged it up overnight and the following still occur. (Doug - I did what you said and measured the voltage on the wires going into the relay... that's how I found my battery was really low... THANK YOU!!! Beyond the low voltage though, everything is working as you described.) 2. I turn the key to the on position so all lights are on including headlights and running lights (the front blinkers stay on). 3. I move the turn-signal switch on the handlebars to the left. The front left running light goes out. Neither left side blinker goes on. The left turn signal indicator on the dash does NOT go on. 4. I move the turn-signal switch on the handlebars to the middle. Front running lights are back on. 5. Switch moved to the right. Front right running light goes out. Neither right side blinkers go on. Right side indicator on dash does NOT go on. 6. Disconnect relay. 7. Jump two of three wires on connector pulled out of relay. 8. Switch moved to left. Front left side running light (less bright) goes out but the blinker filament goes on and stays on (the blinker filament in the bulb is brighter than the running filament). The left rear blinker goes on and stays on. Dash indicator shows left blinker is on. 9. Switch moved to right. Front right blinker gets brighter and stays on, right rear stays on, dash indicator shows right side blinker is on. 10. Plug relay back in - Items #2 - 5 all occur again. 11. Remove relay and jump wires - Items #8 - 9 all occur again. 12. Swap between relay and jumper wires a few more times and all responses stay consistent. This has to be the relay, right? I thought a relay either worked or didn't work, but if the relay had an intermittent connection inside of the relay case then it would explain my previous (and confusing) observation of sometimes they worked after I changed something in the experiment, and sometimes they didn't. Anyways, I bought an actual honda relay from partzilla so I should be able to report back in a weeks time. If anyone has any other experiments they want to suggest, throw them out there and I'll run 'em! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
