10.2.2 crashes every time if English is the primary language for the OS.

To edit a PPD file, don't use a word processor like Nisus Writer which may alter End Of Line code. Use TextEdit or other text editor with EOL set to LF.
As to EGWord Pure, I'm pretty sure it's a bug. In OS X 10.2.x, it identifies itself as EGWord Pro (?) mistakenly. Perhaps you'd better request the bug fix to the developer.Other language shortcomings include OS X applications that do not run unless Japanese is the primary language (EG Word Pure), or have reduced functionality when English is the primary language (Jamming 3.0.3 and (apparently) the Japanese version of MS Office v.X).
What is more annoying with it is that its so-called Unicode support is limited to Hiragino fonts only. That's stupid and absurd.
As I have not used Jamming, I cannot figure out what is your problem with it. Anyway a common fix for a trouble with a Japanese application in English environment - or vice versa -- is to create English.lproj folder in it. This works only for a bundle and fortunately Jamming is a bundle application.
Jamming.app
|-- Contents
| |-- Info.plist
| |-- MacOSClassic
| | `-- Jamming
| |-- PkgInfo
| `-- Resources
| |-- InfoPlist.strings
| |-- Jamming.icns
| `-- Japanese.lproj
| `-- InfoPlist.strings
|-- Icon
`-- Jamming
Open Jamming.app package by Finder contextual menu or with a file browser and create ''English.lproj" folder under Resources folder. You don't need to put anything in it. Just an empty folder would be sufficient.
