So perhaps CarbonLib would not be the culprit. I have had the problem with its earlier versions. 1.2.5, 1.3.1 or 1.4 -- I don't remember well now.
CarbonLib is used by Carbonised version of Classic softwares. It seems to me that CarbonLab affects also the behaviour of non-Carbon applications like Nisus Writer.
Anyway the latest CarbonLib 1.6 is available at

If you try it, install it after having made a backup copy of
/YourHardDisk/System Folder/Extensions/CarbonLib
because a newer version sometimes makes the situation worse...
