He means the greatest word processing feature since cut-and-paste,
the style SHEET. A "package." So, for example, you can (in classic
NisusWriter) create a style called, for instance, block quote.
This might be "Helvetica bold 12 point red, spell checking turned
off, using the ruler named 'left and right indented .3 and aligned
left.'" All these at one menu pull instead of the six or eight
it would otherwise take -- and if you decide that you want all
block quotes in Times instead of Helvetica, you change one
definition, and ALL block quotes turn from Helvetica to Times.

I also consider this a necessary feature. Editors *have to* have
it. And kludges won't do; just a macro to assign all these
features is insufficient. They must be an actual editable
entity. This is because I am an editor, and I get many articles
from contributors with garbage formatting, and I have to conform
them to my appearance guidelines. Only style sheets -- exportable
style sheets -- make this possible. For me, the absence of
style sheets is a dealbreaker. I can't even serious *test*
NEx, because I can't use the results for anything.
