Anagha is being very kind to me, and I do appreciate that. But, Anagha has worked ferociously hard over our short time together, and really deserves most of the credit for this accomplishment (which is significant, and very very hard to attain). I am always very happy when these decisions are made, and you end up at good places, but it is always a bit sad for me too, as I find myself faced with the prospect of starting over again with new students another year. But, I have been very fortunate, and as soon as I say to myself, well, I surely can't replace this student, I will never find a student like this or that, another one comes along to surprise me by doing really wonderful and exciting things. So, I have been lucky so far, and I hope that continues!
BTW, I share Anagha's admiration of CMU - it's a fascinating place really, and provides a really wonderful environment for being a student and doing great research. I am rarely envious of other places, but I confess that CMU does put a twinge of envy in me. :) So while I certainly must congratulate Anagha, I must also thank her too, because we've done many things in the last year or two that I certainly could not have done without her!
