Sorry to barge in on your discussion: I have a Google Alert set for
Surftrackr and this one dropped into my Inbox this morning.

I will probably resume Surftrackr development in the next few weeks,
although I'm not guaranteeing anything. In the meantime, I'm about to
upload a VMWare image of a full, working installation to the VMWare
Applications Marketplace. Granted, it's a chunky download, but it
takes about 6 steps to set it up rather than 60. I would have uploaded
the image yesterday but there's a security problem with the VMWare
website (it shows me someone else's profile and username when I log
in!) Until they fix that, I can't do anything about this.

I basically stopped taking feature suggestions earlier this year
because people tend to come along with shopping lists, and some of
them didn't know how to take "no" (or even "maybe later") for an
answer. I'm more keen to work on making Surftrackr faster and more
stable, rather than adding new features. Good news is that I'm now
working in a school myself, so I have a daily need to run something
like Surftrackr, so I have more motivation to enhance it. I would also
welcome co-developers: Python and Django are dead easy to use, and
don't take a long time to learn.

Hope that helps. If you'd like to know when the VMWare image is
available, let me know.
