for hd there are different models
ie, pvr1600

The mythtv hardware list has a very comprehensive listing

I have been using Mythbuntu for about 6mos now. Started on a 1.6GHz
AthlonXP w/ 512MB, now it is on a 1.9Ghz Ath64 w/ 1GB

Mythbuntu has the builtin facility to support diskless clients.

I have not touched a game console since the first Playstation came
out, so I cant comment here


I found Mythbuntu to be completely painless. even when I bought an
additional pvr150. I just turned off the box, plugged in the card,
turned it back on and simply continued using the dvr, it was a
transparent upgrade

I even did a distro version upgrade without a hitch
