I installed LinuxMCE for a client of mine a couple of years back. He has the main rig with about 4 TB of usable drive space in a RAID 5 config. Then he has a thin client spread out in just about every room. We keep all the thin clients hooked to the main LinuxMCE rig on it's own private network and then he has 3 computers on their own network so the two don't mix. It's worked out quite nicely for him and I don't have to go over there to do much maintenance.
While we were looking at different things to run on this system, MythTV was in the mix, but when we looked at the feature set of LinuxMCE as opposed to MythTV, we went with that setup. LinuxMCE for us has been less hassle in the long run. This is just from my experience.
