I've spent the last few days tinkering with JACK and the various parts needed to accomplish what I want. I think I'm *almost* to a point where I can start thinking about how to tweak signal levels and make the whole set-up simple to restore after a reboot.

I still need to find a mixer that I like, and that gives me enough, but not too much control over the levels of various channels.

Today I finally found the solution to an issue I was having with Darksnow/Darkice. I was getting a seg fault when trying to stream, so i began to change settings till I found a combo that worked, then added some options back in. It turned out that there's a bug in Darkice that only shows up when you ask it to add a date to the filename of a recording of your stream. Found the fix online, recompiled, and all is well there.

My only real "issue" at the moment is that VLC doesn't have a persistent connection to the JACK server. It only connects to the JACK server when it's actually playing a song. In most cases it's not an issue, however, i've got at least one song that starts with audio only present on one side (the left). So, when VLC reconnects, it only connects on the left. There are a couple of work-arounds for this (manually make that connection for that one song... add some audio level to the silent track so that VLC will connect, ...or just don't sing that song. LOL)

Thanks for your suggestions, tips and hints!!
