My Lenovo T61 finally gave up the ghost this morning. About 8:30AM, processor died, seemed to take out memory management, or whatever. I purchased it used from Howard, and have used it for several years. And have no issues with it. Not fancy, just rugged enough for me and functional to the limit. May it now RIP.
I have been running Mint 1 LTE, and hardware was upgraded to 8G RAM, 1T hard drive. Enough mourning old laptops. ... Onward... What is the current recommendation for a pretty good laptop these days? I'd love an Alienware with 16G and I7 processor, but I also want to stay on this side of the poor house. It also must pass the SWMBO test. I'd like to have USB3 available. Suggestions? (My linux desktop has been out for a year or so, and I am using a Win 8.1x64 desktop now. It does PLEX for my TV OK.) I hope everyone had some great holidays, and new year! ><> ...
