complicated more recently and that came in during a particularly
complicated time; I promise that I'm not trying to pull a pocket
veto on it.  I did respond on the earlier 2022 thread.

It frustrates me that people aren't complying with the obvious MTA
limits, but here we are.  And ... well, the simple fact of the matter
is, as far as I can tell, everybody ELSE deals with huge lines just
fine.  I am forced to conclude that so should we.  Again, I don't
love this answer but I cannot come up with a reason why we should not.
If someone can come up with a justification why we should not then
I am open to hearing it.

I took a look at Andy's patch; I didn't go through ALL of the buffer
handling logic just yet, but at first glance it seems reasonable.  I'm
open to hearing from others, but I think it (or something extremely
close to it) should go in.
