Yes, this is very heretical and if you didn't have such a great first name, I'd have to ban you forever from the user forum. > When I click on an account, I would like to see all transactions > regardless of bucket, and when I click on a bucket I would like to see > all transactions in any account assigned to that bucket. > The reason this doesn't happen is that I wanted a quick way to filter down my transactions. This view really is only for the reconcile process and is automatic there so you never have to use it. With envelope budgeting, you want to see the actual amounts in each bucket and not the total of a transaction. > This little quirk would be eliminated if "account" transactions (split > totals) were shown when you click on an account and "bucket" > transactions (split detail) were shown when you click on a bucket. If you're trying to reconcile an account by matching up transactions, don't you do that in the Reconcile view? > My workflow is that I'm either looking at account transactions > (everything for that account), or bucket transactions (everything for > that bucket). I only used Mvelopes for a short time before it drove me crazy so I don't even know about these views but I think if you stop turning on the split totals option and use the Reconcile view to compare to statements, you'll find more enthusiasm for these methods in MoneyWell. I've tried to remove the need for options by making MoneyWell smart about what to show when you are doing different tasks. Let me know if you have tried the reconcile mode and don't agree that this works as advertised. Thanks for all your feedback. There are many view enhancements coming in 2.0 that will probably help with your needs.
