Brett, Exactly. You need to track every single spending activity if you want an envelope budgeting system to work. In addition to the problem of thinking you have more to spend, you'll deceive yourself into thinking that you don't overspend in some category when you probably do. That's why the "Cash Only" checkbox/system was added to MoneyWell. I had a problem with ATM withdrawals getting spent but not being tracked. It was a pain in Quicken to track my pocket cash so I didn't. Now with MoneyWell's automatic cash account transfers, it's easy to categorize every cash transaction as well.
