Kevin, If I understand correctly you put the transaction in as $20.20 before the split? If so, put in the full amount ($40.20) then assign $20.20 to food and then $20 to your cash account by checking the 'c' in the split detail. MW will keep the main transaction at $40.20 as it will show up in your bank statement, and you still have accurate split detail. Plus then you can track the cash as you spend it in your cash account.
