Daniel, If you have a variable income, you still should be working to set a spending plan that is a baseline. This will allow you to keep your spending low so you can build a war chest of savings and reduce debt with the extra income. Then gradually, you can increase some of your spending as you are able to move away from living off the current paycheck. Be careful though to avoid eating away at the savings just with normal expenses. Your spending plan may start out less than your lowest paycheck and then move up to your average paycheck as cash flow allows.
