I also have to agree; though I am certainly not an experienced coder, etc.
Notepad++
is what I use on Windows when I need to code something (but I am not near my
Ubuntu laptop!). Keep up the great work!

Just now installed 4.1, and the problem went away. Perhaps the install process
overwriting certain plugins did the trick. Thanks for the link to the plugins.

One of the ONLY features I can't seem to find in Notepad++ is clip/snippet
collection
support.
Is this available (with a plugin?) or am I just not able to find it?
What I'm talking about is having a menu of code snippets (or a tag list) that
you can browse through and then clip to insert them into your document.
For example, TextPad has a TON of clips available (eg. listings of entire HTML
tags, various C# clips, etc, etc)
Please tell me this is available for Notepad++ :)

i strongly agree on snippets, but clip's sux - big time... and neat feature
would be to run those snippets (some config tool) & pass for example selected
text/all text/file name/etc. THAT would be just awsome!

Ok....may me such a function is not very useful for a programmer, but when you
work with flat file, like database ASCII file...it's a twist...
I just ask you to think adding such a function (Columnar block marking), like
the one available in Multi-Edit from American Cybernetics.
Thanks

I second this! It's ironic that Notepad++ has such great support for Unicode
within documents but none for filenames (though this isn't unusual; Acrobat
had the same problem until version 8).

At my work we have several custom tools that use text files containing various
web content.
(Don't ask why we don't use XML or why this format is horrible... I wish I could
change it)
Example content:
[PARAMETER]
NAME=someparam
TYPE=text
[END PARAMETER]
[PARAMETER]
NAME=myparam
TYPE=checkbox
[END PARAMETER]
[JSCRIPT]
function test() { alert('Hello'}; }
[END JSCRIPT]
[MENULIST_SPECS]
LISTSQL=GETSECTION
LISTCOUNTER=N
SHOWALLFIELDS=Y
LISTWIDTH=100%
SHOW=EVALSQL:Select val=case when '$EDIT'='TRUE' or '$PRINTABLE'='Y' then 'N'
else 'Y' end
[END MENULIST_SPECS]
[MENULIST_LISTSQL_SECTION]
Select nt.type,
nt.sqlfield
from sometable
[END MENULIST_LISTSQL_SECTION]
[MENULIST_LIST_HTML_HEADER]
<TR>
<TD>
<TABLE WIDTH=100%>
<TR>
<TD CLASS="GTRSMALLLABEL" ALIGN=LEFT >Type</TD>
<TD CLASS="GTRSMALLLABEL" ALIGN=RIGHT>Entries</TD>
</TABLE>
</TD>
[END MENULIST_LIST_HTML_HEADER]
As you can see we have lots of different stuff in there: NAME=VAL pairs, SQL,
HTML, and JavaScript.
Does Notepad++ support type inside of type syntax highlighting? (eg. I can
create a custom syntax highlighting type for my tool, but as mentioned my tool
contains other languages)
Can I highlight NAME=VAL pairs where the NAME is one color and the VAL is a
different color?
Can I highlight tags that contain different names? (ex. [MENULIST_SPECS] [END
MENULIST_SPECS] or [WHATEVER_SPECS] [END WHATEVER_SPECS]
Thanks for any help!!

Most Win32 text editors (besides the regular notepad) don't support unicode
filenames.
BabelPad is one that does. Of course, it has crazy awesome unicode support.
It would be such a relief if notepad++ could support unicode command line
arguments.
For example, if I wanted to open "c:\documents and
settings\user\destkop\?\file?123.txt" in notepad++, I couldn't, but can
in BabelPad.

EditPlus can load pretty big files really fast.
With Notepad++, it is too time consuming.
It would be great if this can be improved.

"press alt & select text"
I wondered about this also. Thanks.
How come this isn't listed in the UI anywhere.
All I see is the column mode select shortcut in the docs.
