Thanks, another choice for portable apps. More to choose from I suppose.
Notepad++
seems to work fine.

Thanks again.

Notepad++ doesnt really require installation to run afaik. There should be an
option on sourceforge where you can download a .zip file instead of an
installer,
extract the zip to your flashdrive and notepad++ should work, including the
plugins (unless ofcourse the plugin itself requires special isntallation, but
currently I know of none that do this). The special (empty) file called
"doLocalConf.xml" must reside in the same folder as the Notepad++.exe executable
for notepad to recognize it should store all configuration inside its own
directory
and not somewhere else (this is also an option in the installer). The shell
extension of Notepad++ does require installation however, so I dont think you
can get that from a flashdrive

You missunderstand. This bug is present in all versions since 3.8.

However, I have just tried the zip version and the CTRL+C function works fine.
So this is only a bug with the installers.

You can start the column selection, scroll to the bottom using the scroll bar,
then press Alt while you select the end of the block. I can't find any faster
way to get to the end, sorry.

You might also want to consider using a find/replace method, if that's suitable
for what you want, as discussed here:
https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4501526 .

I've used the installers consistently since ver. 3.8 (or prior) and have seen
no problems using Ctrl-C.

Regards.

VIM has lot more other powerful editor features.

Is this plugin available ?
If not then any one planning to develop this? I would be glad to join them in
developing the plugin.

In fairness it's as easy to write a plugin in C++ as it is in C#. It's all just
Win32 whether it be managed or unmanaged. The big advantage of having them in
C++ is it requires nothing extra to be installed such as the .net framework.
The joy of N++ is that's it's lightning fast and doesn't require any big
external
libraries. Now can you imagine if I decided to write an explorer plugin in my
favourite language Java. All of you would have to install the JRE to use it.
Would you be happy to ? Probably not.

Would it be possilbe to add a feature that allows us to set the tab size for
file types??? For example All C++ files have tab setting of 4 while all Fortran
files have tab setting as size 8?? Thanks.

I believe this can be run in linux using WINE. It will be hard to port because
of the use of the win32 API, but a last glance, WINE supported the win32 API.

Hello,
I use npp very often, because I like the speed, its simple to use and the
plugins
are very helpfull.

But one plugin i would like also. In eclipse for example you can write a comment
like /* TODO ... */

Eclipse finds these TODOs and make a mark at the linenumber-bar. It would be
perfect, to have these as plugin for npp.
