Using the 5.4.4 section from "All files", below "Latest", does work. SF has
a big issue with the relase system after the switch to the new UI.
The general procedure to install a plugin (see
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/notepad-plus/index.php?title=Plugin_Central
) is: copy dll into the Plugins subfolder of the installation folder, any config
file to Plugins\Config, any docs to Plugins\Docs. Restart Notepad++. Should
work.
What the installation folder is depends on the option you chose on installing.
If you use %APPDATA%, it is a Notepad++ folder buried somewhere in Documents
and Settings. Otherwise it is the folder Notepad++.exe is in.
If the plugin comes with explicit instructions, they override this general
procedure.

IdeaTorrent: this a Sourceforge supplied forum-like tool which allows anyone
to post ideas and solutions, and to vote on anyone's as well. See the Hosted
Apps menu in the lower menu bar? Click there and check IdeaTorrent. The
interface
is pretty intuitive, I'd say.
About projects: did you check

About opening binary files when dragging a folder: yes, this is an issue, but
you can use Windows... to select all buffers that have binary contents -
hopefully
they are all clustered together - and close them in a couple mouse clicks, then
save session.
Yet another trick: there are third party appps that provide soft links on any
NTFS file system. A neat solution for any change of address, and your old
session
file would work the first time.

I personally would recommend against unattended installs except on a new
machine.
The installer flags various pugin dll's as not compatible even though they are.
If left unattended, it would delete the dll's or abort.

Confirmed: using the installer for 5.4.4 dated July 5, 2009 23:53 , entries

Nope.
The default behaviour is: if a line is displayed that is even longer than the
maximal scrolled width for current document, then the width is increased.
Firing the macro disables this feature. It doesn't shorten the max scrolled
width. And the latter is stored in the session file.
So, instead of the solution above, you can:
1/ Open document
2/ Cut all contents
3/ Close Notepad++
4/ Reopen.
5/ Fire macro
6/ Paste contents back.
Better?
