When you mean remove all, do you remove the ones that came pre-installed with
the base install or just the additional ones.

I meant *ALL* the plugins - to make sure the crash issue comes from Notepad++
but not plugins.

Are you sure about that?
Notepad++ doesn't support Eiffel (yet) AFAIK.

to associate (via Styler configurator), so it'll override the association set

The easiest way: Close N++, rename the plugin folder to Mike_disabled_plugin
or something like that, and restart N++.

The installer messages are not accurate.
FunctionList and HexEditor are extremely unstable, so they are removed by
installer
in order to keep Notepad++ stability.
I'll modify the message to make them more clear.

IMO, deleting user files is just bad behavior... Especially since you're not
even offered a choice.
They could just be moved to another folder (i.e. plugins_disabled) instead.

I've been using NP++ for quite some time, and I've always had to manually update
it. Clicking the "Update Notepad++" option under the "?" menu simply pops up
a message saying that no update is available. It doesn't even access the
Internet
before making that determination. I've looked through my ZoneAlarm program
list, and the only programs I have permanently blocked are recognizable as NOT
NP++ executables, and even if I had NP++ permanently allowed (which I haven't
because it hasn't tried accessing the Internet), it would prompt me any time
a new version tried to access the Internet. Nothing at all happens to indicate
any attempt to access the Internet is ever made.
Is this a known problem? Is this a universal problem? I'm using NP++
(currently
5.4.5) in Windows XP 32-bit.
