I don't understand how it breaks usability. Can you provide an example?

line. All five previous releases in the 1.6 do not have this feature. This is
against what we try to do. Users who see this feature in 1.6.6 might think that
they can also do it in 1.6.3. This is extremely confusion and against what the
versions are supposed to represent. Think about your experiences with
configuration properties suddenly appearing in a .Z (of an x.y.z version
string) in Hadoop. How jarring would that be to you if 2.6.4 had something that
2.6.1 didn't?
