I think removing the exclusion_list is not necessary, though I do think the change here achieves the goal. The way nouveau purges is modelled on dreyfus which is modelled on mrview (the original index) so I've a mild preference for retaining the basic shape. That said, purging has always been a headache, lots of corner cases (like this one!) I've pushed a branch at https://github.com/apache/couchdb/compare/nouveau-purge-fix?expand=1 for discussion. I broke it into multiple commits as only the first one is the fix (or so I think...). the other two commits remove obsoleted code that would obscure that change if diffed altogether (especially the reindenting one).
