Thanks @matthiasblaesing To be clear, this doesn't relate to a switch from the old installer system - macOS wasn't using NBI anyway. The switch to in-place upgrading, along with a bunch of other things related to the hardened runtime to pass Apple's notarization process, happened with the ASF installers from NetBeans 19 two years ago. It would be easy to support multiple installer versions using NBPackage by specifying a different macOS bundle ID per release. There are arguments for both approaches, but the current one seems more in line with other macOS software, and to be the preferred option. Still, this is not a decision where it's possible to please everyone, unfortunately. As there will be no ASF installers for NB26, this issue was closed here. Future issues for community installers can be handled in the relevant repositories.
