Thanks for the clarification @dosu, that helps a lot. Even if this is an intentional limitation with the current ECharts bar chart, I think the underlying use case is still pretty common in BI (e.g. sorting a categorical axis like DayName using a numeric column like Day_Numeric). The alphabetical ordering can be quite surprising in practice, especially for things like days of the week. I’d be interested in looking into this from a UX perspective and seeing if there’s a reasonable, opt-in frontend enhancement we could add (for example, allowing a numeric column to control category order without changing existing defaults).
