Still declining. TypeScript's `IteratorResult<K, undefined>.value` is typed
as `K | undefined` unconditionally — the compiler doesn't track the runtime
invariant that the Map is non-empty, so `keys().next().value` widens to `K |
undefined` and the guard is required to pass strict null checks. Removing it
would require a non-null assertion (`!`) which is just as 'unsafe' but less
explicit about why.
