National Post School Outcome Community of Practice

The NPSO team is excited to announce two new members to our TA family: Valerie
Mazzotti and Caroline MaGee. As some of you may know, we bid fond farewells
to Jim Leinen who retired and Ryan Kellems to another professional growth
opportunity as an Assistant Professor at Brigham Young University. Caroline
and Valerie will provide both breadth and depth to the technical assistance
provided by the NPSO. Please welcome these two great additions to our team.
I’ve included brief Bios to provide information on their talents and how
their skills are aligned with the work of the NPSO and your State needs. I
hope you'll get to work with each of them soon! Please let us know if you
have any TA needs related to Indicator 14.

*Caroline MaGee* is a former middle and secondary general education
teacher who has worked in inclusive settings and has been a technical
assistance provider for the past seven years at Technical Assistance
Consulting Services (TACS)/Western Regional Resource Center (WRRC). As a TA
provider, Caroline has worked with state departments of special education
and Part C lead agencies serving the seven western states and six Pacific
jurisdictions to improve services for infants, toddlers, and youth with
disabilities and their families. Her work as an English and reading
teacher, experience with school-based and district-level reform
initiatives, as well as experience working with state leadership teams
across special education, general education and school improvement programs
provides her with unique insight into the operations, policies, and
capacity for systems-wide change efforts to compliment NPSO’s work with
States. Caroline has a Master's Degree in Education and currently holds an
Initial Administrator License, both from the University of
Oregon's Department of Educational Methodology, Policy, and Leadership.

*Valerie Mazzotti* was a special education elementary inclusion specialist
in North Carolina prior to completing her PhD. While completing her PhD at
UNC-Charlotte, Valerie worked for the National Transition Technical
Assistance Center (NSTTAC) during which time she provided technical
assistance to states around I-13 and secondary transition evidence-based
practices. As a research assistant for NSTTAC, Valerie was directly
involved in research related to identifying secondary transition
evidence-based practices and predictors of post-school success for youth
with disabilities. For the past three years, she has worked as an Assistant
Professor of Special Education at Western Carolina University where she
taught both face-to-face and on-line courses in research methods, secondary
transition, and advanced methods for working with youth with high incidence
disabilities. Her research interests include self-determination,
evidence-based practices, interagency collaboration, and secondary
transition for students with high incidence disabilities. Her previous
research and teaching experience, in addition to her experience as a TA
provider, make her a unique fit for NPSO. Valerie has a M.Ed. and Ph.D. in
Special Education.

Have a great rest of your week. I know I will since we're finally fully
staffed with such great additions! :)
