As it happens, I dug up an old (8 Aug 2001) mail with this info in order to PM John G to better explain what I really meant. In it, Ray Sloan named Dave Shaw as the other pipemaker (making G chanters with the top F# shifted upwards). Perhaps one of them would care to update us.
