I just picked 512 megs RDRAM non-ECC for $170.00 US, RAMBUs has gotten real
cheap.

True.
I just bought a 128MB stick for my Kayak at home, and it was fairly
reasonable by RDRAM standards

RDRAM is not nearly as expensive as it was some months back.

You might want to check http://www.pricescan.com for current prices

I am not familiar with the performance boost with a P4, but you should
consider the cost involve.

RDRAM is expensive and it's the only memory supported in P4.

Hi all,

I need you advice,

I am running Windows 98 on a Pentium2 - 350 with 512 meg.

I am thinking of replacing that PC for either a Pentium3 Dual 1000 with
512 meg or a Pentium4 1.8 with 512 meg running Windows 2000 Pro.

If I don't run any games on that PC, but run multi boot OS, including
W2K server and SQL 2000.

My main use for that PC is Email, Internet, Office softwares, Utilities,
and to test Server software.

For that use, would you recommand a P3-dual 1000 or a P4 1.8

Thanks in advance
