Not only that. If they all go off at the same time, then machines which
rely on domain authentication might start up before the domain controllers
and you'd have some lovely not-quite-functional systems...

WTF? Every night?? You must be working for a miser.
Every time you turn one off, there is a chance it wont turn back on.
Hard drives have been known to freeze up.

Subject: about nonstop boxes
Hi folks!
I manage a small network with some old pentium boxes as servers, and I
am in the process of changing them for new Dell boxes. Each night at
11:30 pm a switch cuts the power of the office, and the UPSs power down
the servers. At 6:00 AM the same switch brings the power on. I am under
the impression that it would be better if the servers are on all the
time, but I have no good arguments to convince the boss. I would be very
grateful if someone could provide a convincing line. Or am I wrong?
TIA
Joel
