Wait, proxy shouldn't have anything to do with email.

Subject: Internal / external domain names.

Question - see text below from a book I am reviewing:

The primary advantage of using the same name for internal and external
root domains is that e-mail names and logon IDs are identical. This
arrangement requires some extra proxy configuration but is in common use.

What is the extra proxy configuration? Is it complex or a no brainer?

I like this idea because then the login is the same as the email, but I
don't want to create a problem with configuring this.

Please advise.
