A split DNS and alaias's in exhcnage, for w2k there is a need to set up an
alternative universal name (or whatever)
A split DNS is required, which is a no brainer
I see no proxy issues based on your paragraph

we avoid the login being the same as the email as it is less information
that is known externally about our internal network

there is a Q article discussing internal/exgternal domains setup.

Subject: Internal / external domain names.

Question - see text below from a book I am reviewing:

The primary advantage of using the same name for internal and external
root domains is that e-mail names and logon IDs are identical. This
arrangement requires some extra proxy configuration but is in common use.

What is the extra proxy configuration? Is it complex or a no brainer?

I like this idea because then the login is the same as the email, but I
don't want to create a problem with configuring this.

Please advise.
