Get it OFF of DHCP! Even if it is a reservation. I haven't had a lick of
trouble since I did that here. You may also want to try and "reset" the
external print device. Much like with a printer, if you unplug the print
server, then hold down the status/test button I think it is, it will reset
the device and you can reprogram it. Or if you don't want to go that far,
just change the settings for the TCP/IP port you set up for it.

Subject: Network Printing

Ive exhausted just about every other avenue I can think of on this one, so
any ideas will be given a fair shot.

Today my HPLJ4+ decided to stop responding to network print requests.
Here's the hardware setup:
Windows 2000 Server SP2 with a TCP/IP printer port hosting the HP
LaserJet4+.
HP JetDirect 300x external print server connected to the HPLJ4+ in an office
down the hall.
All TCP/IP, all CAT 5 cabling.
The print server responds to PING and TELNET commands, and the printer spits
out its own test pages,
as well as the test pages from the print server.

Software:
NO HP software in the mix, just the drivers for the printer.
DHCP reservation for the printer, and Ive verified it has the IP I think it
has (it has its own reservation).
The winnt/system32/spool directory has appropriate permissions. The printer
is shared properly and NTFS permissions
arent restricting access. No error messages are thrown anywhere down the
line; the print jobs just sit in the queue.
Ive DLed the most recent drivers from HP, both for the print server and the
printer. Ive even switched out the print
server with an identical one just to make sure.

Ive had suggestions to reboot the print server, reboot the printer, change
it from RAW to LPR, delete/reinstall drivers, hit the front panel....nothing
seems to work.
Anyone ever had a printer refuse to print jobs sent to it across a network
*without* throwing an error?
