I forgot one thing. Update the firmware on the Jetdirect Print server!
Seriously. You'll probably find that it is way out of date. I can't
remember what the newest version is, but take a look on HP's site and they
provide ALL the utilities to do this.

I knew I forgot something when listing the steps Ive already tried, sorry.
I have reset the device a few times, in addition to swapping it out with an
identical device.

Ive just connected the printer to LPT1 on an extra machine here, and it
identified and printed just fine so I know the printer itself is working.
For whatever reason, though, network print requests arent getting through to
it (even though it still responds to ping and telnet).

Ive also just hard-coded the IP to the device and still nothing.

FWIW, I can see documents get to the spooler after printing. Their status
shows 'spooling' for a second and then they just sit there in the queue.
The timeout never gets tripped, and the documents just immediately delete
when I cancel them (normally it takes a moment or two to delete).

Get it OFF of DHCP! Even if it is a reservation. I haven't had a lick of
trouble since I did that here. You may also want to try and "reset" the
external print device. Much like with a printer, if you unplug the print
server, then hold down the status/test button I think it is, it will reset
the device and you can reprogram it. Or if you don't want to go that far,
just change the settings for the TCP/IP port you set up for it.
