> You are making a lot of sense Adam.

I thought so. I composed that email to illustrate some of the things
that frustrated me about Outlook. It was then you guys who turned it
into a flame-fest by assuming that I was out to basically flame the hell
out of it.

So what's the big deal?

Firstly, I don't like MS-Exchange -- so sue me for having an opinion.
As William said 58,000,000 people use it. But I don't.

I do like Outlook as a mail client. All I did was get a little
frustrated with some of its features. Reviews have even agreed with me
-- Take the ZDNet review at
http://www.zdnet.com/products/stories/overview/0,8826,475916,00.html,
and I quote:

"Although it lacks any new marquee features, the latest version of
Outlook has many small enhancements that make a good product even
better. Unfortunately, many of the little things that frustrate us are
still there, too."

Too true.

I can't help but notice a little irony in this whole thread, where as
soon as I flame a Microsoft product, everyone with a "MCP MCSE or MVP"
badge attached to their collar pulls up their pants and gets on the
defensive.

My operating system of choice is FreeBSD. But I am also an MCSE and I
know what I am not naive about the things I have spoken about. I am not
some "Microsoft Hater", in fact I quite like Windows 2000, but there are
certain things about it that irritate me, which is why I prefer BSD over
it.

You guys are correct when you say there are "things you can do" to get
around some of these annoyances, and sure, you're right, you can, but
they are still annoyances nonetheless. To me anyway!

>From my point of view I was talking about Outlook as an email client and
as I said at my side I connect to a POP server. Exchange is powerful in
that it has plenty of groupware functionality, and I agree that it,
combined with Outlook as a client makes a lot of sense. But I'm not
going to run Exchange and will hopefully never have to deal with it,
simply because I don't like it. That is my opinion.

I notice that my emails were not specifically directed towards any one
person, but towards a piece of software with which I was pointing out a
list of major issues I have with it. Sure there was some sarcasm
involved, but that's the type of guy I am. As soon as the replies came
in, especially from particular people, you started giving *me* shit.
This thread was about the Microsoft Outlook product, *NOT* about me.
