Rather than deleting it manually, you should try clearing it via the GUI or
the command line.

Subject: Event Log

Hello All,
The system event log on my server is not recording any events. I am almost
certain that it is corrupt. I was told that I should just go to system32
file and delete the current log, reboot the system and NT will create
another. However, since this is a production database server, I donot just
want to reboot during the day.

Please advise as to how I can get the system event log working.
