MS MOM or BMC Patrol should meet most of the things you are looking for. Both are expensive $800 to $2000 per server depending on the bells and whistles you are looking for.
If you have SMS you can look at health monitor. If you want cheap use perfmon and log the activity. -----Original Message----- From: Ron Jameson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, February 15, 2002 1:30 PM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: Server analysis tool with exact problems? I know there is the perf monitor included with Win2k...but is there a better tool that admin's out there highly recommend to be able to monitor all critical activity on a server and show where the bottlenecks are and recommend improvements in architecture? I have multiple cases to need a tool to actively monitor the server and record activity for the day and find out where and how the server is being utilized (drive i/o, error, network i/o, cpu and more). Then, when a user complains about network slowness, I can pinpoint exactly what is going on. Would be nice to have the tool take the numbers and apply to real world answers to the causes and solutions based on theory. What are people using that works the best and will not break the bank. Thanks for the input.
