As one of those "bosses", it usually depends on how stable my systems have
been in the past and the pressure on the me for availability. Even if there
is absolutely no chance of a problem occurring (yeah right!), it may be
politically prudent to schedule it out of hours for that 0.00001% chance of
it going wrong.  It also depends if the admin has done similar things in the
past and some issues have resulted from them. 

Typically we do our changes after 5pm or in the weekend, our SLA is 8-5 x 5

I know this question is out of the ordinary but, I was just wondering
how many other network admins aren't allowed to make system changes
during the week.� Reason being I am trying to install something that
doesn't require any outages and my boss wont let me.� Just trying to see
if I am a loner or if this is something happening in other places as
