I would consider the most important aspect to a Network Administrator's job is server up time. That is your ultimate overall goal. However you do that would fall under your daily and monthly tasks. Be it, monitoring disk space, event logs, performance. Updating security fixes and virus definitions, setting permissions, performing backups, testing backups. That is a basic network admin, of course we all have more to worry about then just servers. Some of us have Citrix, SQL, Web Sites, Exchange, the list can go on and on. So for you I think you should keep it basic. What are you responsible for and what does it take for you to ensure that you are keeping your responsibilities, reliable, secure, redundant, up to date, etc.
