The graceful approach would be to run DCpromo again on the system to being it back down to a mortal server. In this way, stuff like the KCC would not have to work extra hard to figure out that you removed it, and generally less confusion amoung your remaining DC. It's like saying goodbye when you leave a party. Party won't stop without you there, but it sure would be nice if your friends knew you left and not have to be looking all over for you.
