Just to let those of you who RIS and use RIPrep for images, here's what I ran into. When Q317277 gets applied, it updates the ntoskernl.exe and thus makes your image appear 'newer' than what's on the server. I didn't try just updating another image with this newer file on the server but I will now. What I did do though to get around this because of a deadline was remove the hotfix and script it in the RunOnce key so that when the image gets pasted, the hotfix gets applied when logged in for the first time. I'll post once I try the other...

We refresh the ghost image with the hotfix and deploy the hotfix to exiswting Pcs via login script or SMS I assume you are talking about XP Pro? Do you have the technet CD? on the Cd there is a resource kit for XP Pro and dynamic update looks the way to go. I think slipstreaming is really only at SP level. http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/DUProcedur e/Dynamic%20Update.htm cheers Dean -----Original Message----- From: Woods, Tony G AG:EX [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, 26 March 2002 10:04 a.m. To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Windows Update Switches Thanks Dean... I did come across that in my searches. My problem is that I'm trying to do something similar to 'slipstreaming'... Where you can apply the SP to a RIS image. Is there a way to do this with the hotfixes? My problem is that I've applied a hotfix to my XP image and now I can't use RIPrep to take an image because it thinks it's newer than the CD based image on the server.
