That is what I do with one server. It has about 10000 folders, then about 10
40K files in each folder. Takes forever to backup.

The problem specifically has to do with Tapes...
You theoretically could perform a flat file backup with Win2000 and then
backup that 1 large flat file very fast

hmmm.... I have over 2 million files at about 30 GBs.... but that rate 
would take me about two days to do a back up...

Maybe if a broke down the backup into smaller ones and append to the 
tape.  Going to try that.
