A robocopy script won't copy files that are in use. It'll work fine as long as you're not trying to back up the OS and no users or applications have any of the files open that you want to back up.
Vanessa: NTBackup is a very basic utility. It does backups with limited options as to where and how. If you want better functionality you're going to need to spend some money. Take a look at the other various backup programs available, many of them will allow you to back up to a remote disk. If MS included a utility that did "everything" then the other backup vendors would be out of business (at least out of the backup business) and the DOJ would have another sword to hold over Microsoft's head.... "I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by." -----Original Message----- From: Bendall, Paul [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, May 29, 2002 7:59 AM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: NT grrrrr backup How about using a robocopy script? NTBACKUP on Windows 2000 and above is a cut-down version of Veritas BackupExec. It allows you to back up to tape (or tape-like) devices, or to a file on any local or remote disk. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Posted At: Tuesday, May 28, 2002 1:07 PM Posted To: Windows NT/2000 List Conversation: NT grrrrr backup Subject: NT grrrrr backup ok dof question but the backup on NT 4 does it only allow you to backup to a tape drive? is there no other backup software available besides that? ------ You are subscribed as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to %%email.unsub%% ------ You are subscribed as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to %%email.unsub%% ------ You are subscribed as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to %%email.unsub%% ---------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have received this e-mail in error or wish to read our e-mail disclaimer statement and monitoring policy, please refer to http://www.drkw.com/disc/email/ or contact the sender. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------ You are subscribed as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to %%email.unsub%% ------ You are subscribed as [email protected] Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
