Sorry Todd, that wasn't meant to be directed at you personally. I've just seen so many administrators that take the MS hyperbole: "WARNING : Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems that result from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk." at face value and won't touch the registry.
To me, that is akin to a car maker placing a warning in the middle of the steering wheel that reads: "WARNING : Using this vehicle incorrectly can cause serious problems that may result in hospitalization or even death. The automobile manufacturer cannot guarantee that problems that result from the incorrect use of your vehicle can be solved. Use this vehicle at your own risk.". Well ... yeah ... I guess so, but I think I will drive anyway. I know how to drive and as long as I practice reasonable care, I should be fine. Justin: Here is the registry change you are looking for: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon ] AutoAdminLogon="1" DefaultUserName="EnterUserNameHere" DefaultPassword="EnterPasswordHere" DefaultDomainName="EnterLogonDomainHere" Greg Eytcheson [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.eytcheson.com -----Original Message----- From: Todd C. NO $H!T Sherlock! Any admin worth his/her salt knows how to "play" with the registry, and has no problem with it. And I agree with almost every statement you make. But why do something when you don't have to? To make my car run better, I *could* tear down the engine every 5,000 miles, but I prefer to just change the oil... (Now let's just smile, shack e-hands, and move on, shall we??) :-) :^) :-D Justin - AUTOLOG is on the NT4 Server Resource Kit CD; I don't think you ever mentioned what OS you are actually working on? I know it works on any NT4/2000 machine though. And since I didn't HACK THE REGISTRY (<G>) when I used it, I don't know how it stores the info. I can send it to you privately if you'd like; a search on MS-KB for AUTOLOG will probably tell you as much as I can, too. Todd C.
