I've had a couple of my consultants tell me lately they've gotten clear away from WD hard drives, sounds like the quality control has gone to crap. IBM seems preferred.

I had heard a rumor that there was an incompatibility between the OS and certain WD drives, but I was never able to track anything definitive down. I switched to Maxtors and carried on.
