Try performing different HAL install. Don't load the standard ACPI if it's a cheap clone MB. When it says "Press f6 to load additional drivers," press F7. Then it has a list of other HAL's and you should load the one called "Standard PC." By the way once I did this and it didn't work the first time so I reset all the defaults on my BIOS then did the F7 thing again and it worked. But this is how I've always had to install 2K on cheapass old korean noname motherboards. There's a Q article on it but I lost the number. Just search the KB for F7 or F6...

The installation would hang during checking the hardware. It turned out that the BIOS had USB-Support enabled but the AT-Motherboard didn't have any USB-Ports. I did disable the USB-Support in the BIOS and the installation went smoothless Doris -----Ursprngliche Nachricht----- Von: Bud DAWSON [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Gesendet: Montag, 08. I changed permissions to Everyone\Full but the problem persists I specified "upgrade" when asked, and then repeated the install attempt but this time with a "clean install" and got exactly the same hangup, in the same place. I also checked the box to "specify the partition where windows will be installed", planning to install to a totally different partition, but the hang occurs before you get to choose which partition to install to, so it seems to NOT be related to the OS presently installed !
