I need a quick resolution to what I know is a simple problem. I have an old Compaq that I'm trying to reload XP on. This is a 6gig harddrive w/256 RAM. I was trying to add a 40gig harddrive to it and started running into problems. After finally getting the system to recognize both drives and the CD-ROM I now get an error when trying to re-install the OS from CD. The first error I got stated that the harddrive was corrupt. When I went to try and repair it, I started getting another error. The error is stating the setup can't load or unable to detect a system.? file. It does this regardless of what XP Professional cd I use. If I try a w2k pro cd I get BSOD. ANyone familiar with this? Again I had XP running on this system previously. I get the same error even if I attempt to return to the same initial setup.
