We don't have a policy in place, but my boss has an unwritten rule that if I
was to do something like you describe (and, of course, I have), he will work
out some way of giving me that time off. I don't keep tabs of what overtime
I've worked and neither does he, but if I need time off because kids are out
of school, haircut, or mental health day, I easily get it.

I consider myself lucky; we mostly stick to 40 hour weeks. My understanding
is (others, please correct me or confirm if necessary) that overtime comes
with the admin job. I've worked in a shop where 60 hours is expected, and
you should be thankful if management even acknowledges any time worked over
that.

Subject: Comp Time Question - a little OT

Does anyone know if there is a standard policy out there for Comp Time?

I have been asked to find out what other companies do to compensate their
employees for working off hours(nights, weekends), beyond their normal
workweek.

Example: If I have to come in on a Saturday to install a new antivirus
package and it take 4 hours, do I get 4 hours off during the week or what?

Thanks - Brian
