Note to public: "don't buy NS models 10 or 100 unless you absolutely have
to due to corp "policies"".

I'm a little pissed at Netscreen right now. I have an NS10 that is about a
year old. NS has recently released the 4.0 version of their software.
Apparently they have decided not to update this model since it has
discontinued it. That really sucks. I have an open software / service
contract with them. It would appear that they are going to choose to
discontinue software updates for discontinued models. Considering they disco
models at the rate of about 1 a month, this could be a real problem down the
road for a lot of folks. Sonicwall promises software upgrades for free,
essentially forever. Even old PIX's can be updated with a little work. I
will think twice before purchasing a NS again. It's a real shame, it's a
killer product. But if you can keep the OS up to date on a FW, it will
eventually become a boat anchor.

I've used a bunch of these. All have their strengths and weakness. 1.
Netscreen 2. Sonicwall 3. Symantec's new VPN Appliance

I really love what netscreen is doing with their systems. Support structure
is still hashing out issues/practices, but these appliances smoke and are
easy to set up/integrate.

Hit me off-line if you want more info.

Good luck

How about a simpler or cheaper firewall/vpn solution. I don't have a lot of
users.

Go for it. It works great. I use it all the time to work on my systems
remotely on the weekends.

What do you guys think of it? I'm interested in setting up VPN so my users
can access our network from home.

Hi all,
Does anyone know if PIX supports VPN?

Johnny
