Yeah. I do recall them offering an incentive (20-30% I think) to upgrade the older 10 architecture appliances about 2 or so years ago.. When they introduced the 2.x code base.

Too bad they won't upgrade you to an NS25, though. I have an NS10 that is about a year old. NS has recently released the 4.0 version of their software. Apparently they have decided not to update this model since it has discontinued it. That really sucks. I have an open software / service contract with them. It would appear that they are going to choose to discontinue software updates for discontinued models. Considering they disco models at the rate of about 1 a month, this could be a real problem down the road for a lot of folks. Sonicwall promises software upgrades for free, essentially forever. Even old PIX's can be updated with a little work. I will think twice before purchasing a NS again. It's a real shame, it's a killer product. But if you can keep the OS up to date on a FW, it will eventually become a boat anchor. -----Original Message----- From: Byron Kennedy [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, November 22, 2002 9:48 AM To: NT 2000 Discussions Subject: RE: Firewall Recommendation I've used a bunch of these. All have their strengths and weakness. 1. Netscreen 2. Sonicwall 3. Symantec's new VPN Appliance I really love what netscreen is doing with their systems. Support structure is still hashing out issues/practices, but these appliances smoke and are easy to set up/integrate. Hit me off-line if you want more info.
