As in have one user have .DOC filed default to Word and perhaps another
local user have it default to Notepad or something? If so, good question! If
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT is any indication no you cannot, but that's simply a guess
on my part.

In other words, associate a certain file extension with a particular
program.
Ex: *.doc files with MS Word.

If the local drive has NTFS partitions then permissions can be set per
file/folder/user. If it's FAT/FAT32 you can't w/out 3rd party tools.

Hi all, is there a way to allow per-user file associations for regular users
of Win2k professional?
Somehow, the default is that regular users cannot manipulate File
associations on their own systems.
We're using AD, so maybe through policies?

Any help is appreciated.
